The city of Santa Clarita launched an informational webpage on the city site today to provide residents with information on the natural gas storage facilities located within and adjacent to city boundaries.
The new webpage can be found [here].
The city has published the webpage in response to community concerns regarding the safety of the Honor Rancho Facility, a SoCalGas® natural gas storage facility partially located in Santa Clarita. Safety and security concerns about the underground storage of natural gas have heightened since October’s natural gas well leak incident at the SoCalGas Aliso Canyon Facility in nearby Porter Ranch.
The new webpage offers up-to-date information and resources on the Aliso Canyon Gas Leak, Honor Rancho Facility and the agencies monitoring and regulating the current operations for the Aliso Canyon gas leak.
“The city does not monitor or regulate the natural gas storage facilities but we have met with and are in talks with representatives from SoCalGas and the overseeing agencies that are monitoring and regulating the Aliso Canyon gas leak,” said Mayor Bob Kellar. “With this new webpage, residents can find the information and resources they need regarding these natural gas storage facilities in one place,” he added.
