The College of the Canyons has established two new student scholarships to honor the memory of producer and director Kathleen Fortine who died Feb. 19 at age 56.
According to the COC Foundation, the Kathleen Fortine Memorial Endowed Scholarships for Music and Television will be awarded to students seeking professional careers in either music or television production.
Donations to the scholarships are currently being accepted through mail or online.
The daughter of COC Board of Trustees president Bruce Fortine, Kathleen Fortine was an award-winning music director and television producer whose long list of credits include the popular TV shows “Survivor,” “American Idol” and most recently “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
A Celebration of Life memorial will be held for Fortine in the lobby of COC’s Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center on Saturday, March 5 at 2 p.m.
