You Know I'm Right | Commentary by Betty Arenson
| Friday, Jul 11, 2014

bettyarensonOnce again, President Obama has been taken by surprise – and this time it’s the tsunami of illegal aliens flooding across the U.S. Border.

Surprise? Hardly. Even Democrats are not denying the Obama administration knew of the looming flood as early as October 2013.

Completely verifiable is that under this administration, the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement deliberately advertised to procure employment intending to promote illegal immigration in January 2014. It advertised via the Federal Business Opportunities website (FedBizOpps.gov).

Here are some highlights from the government’s web site:

Title: Escort Services for Unaccompanied Alien Children

Solicitation Number: BERKS-RFI

Agency: Department of Homeland Security

Office: Immigration & Customs Enforcement

Location: ICE-OAQ-DM

Procurement Type: Request for Information (RFI)/Sources Sought

Title: Escort Services for Unaccompanied Alien Children

Classification Code: V- Transportation/Travel/Relocation

NAICS code: 561612

Primary POC: Rachel Ali, Contract Specialist/ Rachel.Ali@ice.dhs.gov

Secondary POC: Tony Ross, Contracting Officer/ Tony.Ross@ice.dhs.gov

A. Introduction

“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a component of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), has a continuing and mission critical responsibility for accepting custody of Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) from U.S. Border Patrol and other Federal agencies and transporting these juveniles to Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) shelters located throughout the continental United States. ICE is seeking the services of a responsible vendor that shares the philosophy of treating all UAC with dignity and respect, while adhering to standard operating procedures and policies that allow for an effective, efficient, and incident free transport. The Contractor shall provide unarmed escort staff including management, supervision, manpower, training, certifications, licenses, drug testing, equipment, and supplies necessary to provide on-demand escort services for non-criminal/non-delinquent unaccompanied alien children ages infant to 17 years of age, seven (7) days a week, 365 days a year. Transport will be required for either category of UAC or individual juveniles, to include both male and female juveniles. There will be approximately 65,000 UAC in total: 25% local ground transport, 25% via ICE charter and 50% via commercial air.”

B. ICE Standards/Special Requirements

From this section: “…include de-escalation techniques” and employee verifications through the E-Verify system.

The contractor is required to perform in accordance with all ICE policies including, and among other things, the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008.

C. Contract Type

The Government anticipates awarding a five (5) year Fixed Price Indefinite Delivery…

“The anticipated release date of the solicitation is March 3, 2014. The solicitation closing date will be thirty (30) days after release of the Request for Proposal (RFP).”

D. Place of Performance:

“Service Area: Throughout the Continental United States (US).”

“The area(s) or region(s) serviced may occur either with a phased approach over a period of several months to a full year. Alternatively, the Contractor shall perform the entire transportation function upon full funding. For example, the following two circumstances may occur: (1) The contractor could initially provide transportation services only in the Southwest Region of the U.S. for those juveniles who are apprehended in the state of Texas; or, (2) The Contractor may be required to provide transportation services for all juveniles who are in DHS custody throughout the continental U.S.”

E. RFI Purpose/Requirements:

The purpose of this RFI is to obtain market information and capabilities for planning purposes and to determine appropriate strategies to meet the Agency’s requirements. (Etc.)

F. Submissions and Point of Contact Information: above names restated.

There has been miniscule transparency on this plan that was clearly hatched in 2013 if not sooner. It was put into formal, final text in January 2014, specifically noting “release date of the solicitation is March 3, 2014.” Moreover, Section D mentions “funding.” Obama demanded $2 billion in “emergency” funding last week, and this week it’s $3.7 billion, mostly to hire attorneys, judges and probably diaper changers. What about that direly needed border security?

When a few Democrats have to defend the solicitation, their answer is the usual – “It’s George Bush’s fault” – referencing the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008. It’s another blatant lie foisted upon American citizens.

These prevaricators do not tell you the original Act was TVPP 2000, and it was all about trafficking people for the sex trade. It was renewed and updated in 2003, 2005 and 2008.

The 2005 expansion required “an annual report from the Attorney General to Congress on U.S. Government activities to combat TIP (victims)”; apparently another Eric Holder failure.

The 2008 version “requires the inclusion of additional information in the AG’s activities of the Executive Branch to combat (TIP) during the previous fiscal year.”

This information only scratches the surface.

Can we get a procured escort to help former U.S. Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi into America?

The only real surprise is how President Obama has an approval rating in the double digits.

This is an orchestrated event in the fantasy world of politics.

    But….It’s for the children…
And… If you do not agree with us, you are a racist
    Yawn….

  2. Suzi S Smith says:

Once again…..narrow minded, mean spirited drivel. Your family migrated here too.

  3. Keep bolstering the inane “US v. THEM” mentality, and watch where it gets you. I’m sure Jesus is very proud of you.

  4. Bill says:

I’m going through this with my family…you reach a certain age, get confused, mix the meds and forget the facts.
FACT: All unaccompanied children coming across must be escorted to be processed according to GEORGE BUSH’S law signed before he left office. That must’ve been his compassionate conservatist side…good for him. That is fact, your opinion is not.
FACT: Obama already has expressed the fact (again, a fact) that most children will have to be sent back home.
FACT: The money Obama requested is to beef up security and for extra processing help. The borders would have more security if congress would have passed a bill Obama put forth many months ago but we all know the FACT is congress doesn’t want anything done about that or anything else. Keep Obamas’ hands tied is what it’s all about.
Finally the most important FACT: Don’t make any cutesy jokes about diaper changing because at a certain age….

    • Marty Siebe says:

      Bill,
Your first FACT #1: Did you not read the origination of the law you refer to as “GEORGE BUSH’S law as researched and explained above?
Your FACT #2: While there is fact in that Obama has stated that most(?) will be sent home, history of Obama’s term continually demonstrates that what he states and what actually occurs are polar opposites.
Your FACT #3: Is lacking in detail. How much of the 3.7B is for extra border security? I do not know myself but I am willing to bet that it is mostly for “processing” and little else. Besides, Obama and his employment of executive order has hardly let little ol’ Congress stand in his way. Let alone, tie his hands.
Your FACT #4: Well, really isn’t a fact at all.

  5. Jim Oge Jr says:

    All should be sent back!

    • Suzi S Smith says:

      Where does your family originate?

    • Jim Oge Jr says:

Here at least some of them I’m part Indian not sure how much

    • like it matters! calling someone illegal on stolen land is as ridiculous as someone whom claims that they are “part” Indian and tells their brothers and sisters that they need to go back. If only part of you is Indian, then everything else that you are mixed with should also go back to where it came from. Not sure how much, but only the Indian side can stay. HOW RIDICULOUS DOES THAT SOUND. Now here is a ax and a knife. GET BUSY!!

  6. Bonnie Eaton says:

Suzi and Jared said it all.

  7. Bonnie Eaton says:

I’m glad Bill bothered to do his research to find the truth.

  8. Jim Oge Jr says:

Great the unviable man is now proud of me!!!! The world of make believe yippie,

  9. Obama worshipers can not defend this horrible crisis at the border! Who says they are under 18? Who says the children they bring are there’s ? Who says there aren’t terrorists hiding among them? Who can prove where they are really from? This is a political ploy gone nuts directed by a nut!

    • Bill says:

Knock it off with the “worshippers”…nobody is worshipping anybody. There’s plenty of video and they’re being processed, unless they’re all midgets, they’re kids. The only nut sounds like you with more hatespeach. Get a grip lady.

  10. Ugh, The “reporters” or “writers” on this site have no journalistic ethics or honor! Unfollowing!!

    • So why would you take it out on the reporters and writers on this site? It’s clearly labeled “commentary” and says quite plainly that it is an opinion piece by a member of the general public and does not necessarily reflect the opinions of SCVTV or anyone other than the person who wrote it. Same with ALL things marked “commentary.” You’re familiar with newspaper opinion pages, right? Same thing.

  11. Why does every piece written lean to the right and is anti-administration?

  12. Perhaps it would be refreshing to hear opinions that reflected both sides of the coin. It would likely help readers make claims that are well-rounded.

  13. Lina Boulos says:

Ms Betty, you don’t look American Indian to me!! Your an immigrant too

    • Marty Siebe says:

      Lisa,
What does an American Indian look like? Can you possibly answer that without coming off as rascist yourself? Besides, most of our and ancestors arrived LEGALLY. How do people like you not understand the difference?

Join Americans for Sergeant Andrew Tahmooressi Day on Friday, July 18, 2014
Every Member of the US Congress, the President and the US Secretary of State have failed to obtain the release of US Marine Sergeant Andrew Tahmooressi from a Mexican prison when his only crime was making a wrong turn at the US/Mexican border over 100 days ago. American Citizens can join together on behalf of Sgt. Tahmooressi on July 18, 2014 by taking these steps:

    1. Observe Sergeant Tahmooressi Day on July 18, 2014. Circulate this letter to every American Citizen you know – – relatives, friends, neighbors, coworkers, classmates, everyone. Spread the word now so 300 million Americans will be holding our government employees accountable for Sgt. Tahmooressi’s safe return to USA on Friday, July 18, 2014. Ask them to join all Americans to support the immediate release of Sgt. Tahmooressi from the Mexican prison. Americans can show our incompetent politicians and a corrupt Mexican government that we will fight and win when cowards we have in Washington won’t fight for a US Marine who fought for our Country. Show Mexico that We, the American People, are united in demanding the immediate release of Sgt. Tahmooressi so he is safely returned to the US before sunset on Friday, July 18, 2014.

    2. Take the Pledge: I am an American who demands that the Mexican Government immediately returns Sergeant Tahmooressi to the USA. If he is not returned before sunset on July 18, 2014, I will join 300 million American Citizens in boycotting all commerce, products and services of Mexico at the rate of one day for every minute his return is delayed* to the United States. When I shop in food markets, hardware and furniture stores, clothing outlets and the internet, I will check to be sure that no item I purchase came from Mexico. I will not vacation or visit Mexico. I will not employ Mexican workers or enable Mexicans to send American dollars to Mexico. I will not support American companies with factories in Mexico. I will write or call my Congressional Representative and Senators to demand they halt all US foreign aid and assistance to Mexico.

    3. Vote for Action: The attached roster of US Senators, Congressmen and Congresswomen have failed to take swift, justified action against Mexico for the imprisonment of SGT Tahmooressi, but they are sending Mexico our American tax dollars in foreign aid. As an American Voter, I pledge that I will vote AGAINST every incumbent US Senator in my State, and AGAINST my current Congressman because they have failed at even the simplest of duties. They work for me, they have failed, and it’s time for them to leave. I will join millions of American voters to send all 535 Members of Congress packing their bags in November for their failure to take action. I will vote for candidates who pledge to immediately halt all foreign aid and assistance to Mexico because Mexico wrongfully imprisons our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines.

*Do the math: If Sgt. Tahmooressi is released 24 hours (1440 minutes) after July 18, that’s nearly 4 years of a united American boycott of all Mexican commerce. The entire, pathetic and corrupt nation of Mexico will be bankrupt when Americans stop buying Mexican products and services.
And ask yourself this: In how many wars did the Mexican Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines join with the US Armed Forces to fight those who attacked the United States? Mexico has no right to accost, imprison and torture any American Serviceman or Servicewomen – – ever!

Please pass this message to everyone you know; leave a stack of copies on your subway, bus or cafeteria; email this message to your friends and relatives. United Americans will free Andrew!

  15. Marty Siebe says:

@truth teller (I am only left to believe that the name is ironic) As you have stated “Korean” cars I will make an assumption that you mean Hyundai. If that is the case then how do you know that the cars were not built right here in the good ol’ US of A? http://hyundaiamerica.us/an-american-success-story/u-s-operations/ I owned a Chevrolet Suburban that was assembled in Canada with a transmission from Italy along with many other various parts from outside the country. Buying American isn’t as simple as it used to be. A real “Truth Teller” would know that though, hence why I am left to assume that your moniker is ironic.

You’re misdirected ire comes of with the appearance of you owing her money or that you are repeatedly abused by your spouse. In either, or both cases, I hope you find the help that you need so desperately and in regards to you leaving the republican party, your demeanor and ignorance seem much better suited for the party of liberals. I wish you well on your journey!!!

  16. Nancy H. says:

Good Post Martin! The hatred and stupidity of some people is amazing! Although truth teller does not state that they own “American” cars, let alone always purchase American products, he (she) certainly represents that in his (her) post. I bet they do not have “American” cars either.

  17. Marty Siebe says:

    Really “truth” teller? Yawn…
what a complete dolt…..are you trying to tell me that all the money made by “american” companies stays in America and that all foreign company profits leave America? Wow…your bitterness and false moniker is only exceeded by your depth of ignorance. You should really save yourself the embarrassment of commenting further. That’s my PSA for the day.

  18. Marty Siebe says:

“truth” (hahahaha) teller, for your family and what few friends you may have, if any at all, I am embarrassed that they are associated with you. I feel so sorry for them. I bet that you are a person of constant conflict and rarely a light to those with the misfortune of crossing your path. You choose to use a moniker instead of your real name which is a sure indication of your self-realized cowardice and insecurity. You lash out at others as a result and fail to truly look within as the real root cause of your never ending conflict. I would wager that you drive a foreign car(s), that your neighbors regret living in your close proximity and that you too attended public school but with no continuing education. You are an angry, bitter person with little to no joy in your life. That is sad. My heart breaks for you as you have chosen this path. You don’t have to continue being a small person and traveling a path to self-destruction and loneliness. The first step is admitting the above. Once you have done this then you can begin the healing process. I will be happy to research individual and/or institutions that can provide you the help you are in such dire need of. Just let me know when you are ready.

  19. Marty Siebe says:

    Not ready yet I see.

  20. Marty Siebe says:

:-( Still so far from being ready.

  21. Marty Siebe says:

Bore you enough that you took the time to research who I was? You and your comments are very small. It takes courage to post under your real name. It takes even more courage and effort to do what my mom does. I am very proud to call her my mother and she certainly does not need me to defend her. I have no idea who you are or what your name is and I am confident that you don’t have the character or integrity to reveal that. You may know who my mother is but now everybody knows who your daddy is. I wish you future wellness.

  22. Marty Siebe says:

You are obviously embarrassed to reveal your true self as the author of the very small, mean spirited comments above. I would be if I were you too. Until next time!
