Preparation led to a quick response to two Santa Clarita Valley fires Friday, according to fire officials.
“Our extra patrols, our extra firefighters on engines play a huge role in preparation for us,” said Stephanie English, spokeswoman for the LA County Fire Department. “Prestaging is a huge part of that response because the Santa Ana winds pose a huge challenge for us.”
An incident was reported near the 15th hole of a Sand Canyon golf course near Robinson Ranch Road around 11 a.m. A second incident was reported minutes later near Saugus Speedway, off of Soledad Canyon Road in Saugus.
The Soledad Canyon blaze was right next to where a fire occurred Thursday. The Saugus blaze was declared knocked down by 12:30 p.m. The Sand Canyon incident was considered minor and quickly taken care of, according to fire officials.
No one was injured in the fires, and no structures were threatened.
