1940 - NYC premiere of "The Marines Fly High" starring Lucille Ball, filmed in Placerita Canyon [story] Marines Fly High

[KHTS] – A suspect accused of stealing nearly $2,000 in ammunition from a local gun club is in the custody ofSanta Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies, officials said Tuesday.

news_gunclubsuspect050714Mario Salazar, 20, of Canyon Country, was arrested at 2:40 p.m. Monday, after deputies received numerous tips on his whereabouts, officials said. He was booked on a burglary charge in connection with a theft at the Oak Tree Gun Club.

“With help from the media and the community we serve, detectives received tips, they investigated those tips and it ultimately led to the arrest of (Salazar),” said Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. This is another perfect example of how our community is safer when we can work with the public to solve crimes.”

Sheriff’s Station officials released footage Wednesday of a suspect they believe is Salazar kicking in the door of the Oak Tree Gun Club in Newhall back in April.

Salazar allegedly  kicked in a door around 6:50 p.m. April 26 at the Oak Tree Gun Club on the 23100 block of Coltrane Avenue in Newhall, in the unincorporated part of Los Angeles County.

The stolen items included: 2,000 .556-caliber bullets; 250 30-caliber American Eagle bullets; 500 .45 caliber bullets; 500 9-millimeter bullets; a $79 rifle case; and a $1 bottle of water.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detectives immediately began following leads and released surveillance video and still photos taken from the location in hopes of identifying the suspect involved in this incident.

Detectives are presenting a case to the District Attorney’s Office today and expecting a Wednesday court date for Salazar, officials said.

Haha scv cops really working ?ha ya right

Having someone steal from you, it sucks… But have you ever wondered why that person stole. Maybe he’s hungry maybe he’s sad?

  15. Joel Cooke says:

    Nice Condor rifle case!!

  16. Sam Ortiz says:

I see Mario has lost some weight since high school….

  17. Tom Dehn says:

Kicked in the door? 0_o. Must have been a flimsy door.

  18. Paul Mahone says:

Now he can shower with his “wife” every day.

  19. Sean Jamadar says:

Money is used to purchase goods and services. Ammunition is a good and can be exchanged for money. When you living on food stamps and homeboys are wasting money, then my boy is going to do whatever it takes to eat. Maybe if all the rich people in the scv gave back to all the poor and minorities, everybody could eat and chill in peace without a conflict of interest

    • Greg Brown says:

Have the poor look to God and local churches and their needs will be provided. Also look into SCV food bank. Not stealing of any type. You say “your boy.” Can you please elaborate? Sean Jamadar.

    • Tito Soto says:

Sean, I’m not sure what reality you live in to justify crime. In many third world countries, your fingers or hands are chopped off for stealing. In our “horrible” SCV and our country, they are just arrested and then given free meals and health care. So it’s good for him to have committed the crime.

    • Tito Soto says:

Btw I hope you do not drive a vehicle, hopefully a bicycle, and live in a shack because you donate all your money to the poor. In fact how are you on Facebook? You shouldn’t have a computer or a cell phone. You could have sold those and gave that money to the poor.

    • You are truly a mental midget.

  20. Sean Jamadar says:

Dear Greg, all I ask is for you to consider the idea that this young man didn’t have the same opportunities as you. When I say my boy, I’m talking about a fellow human. Before any of you judge this individual for committing an act of evil, make sure YOUR hands are clean.

  21. Sean Jamadar says:

Dear Tito, I live in a shack and I don’t have a high paying job. How I manage to pay for those expenses, only god can answer that… But you seem like a very judgmental person… Remember we are all connected. Are thoughts, words, and deeds have a profound influence on everyone around us. You should open up a dictionary and look up the word compassion. Because the next time you make a mistake you will understand not to expect compassion from anybody else

  22. He’s like looking around but there’s a camera right there lol what a tard

  23. Tito Soto says:

Sean I come from beyond humble beginnings and very bad circumstances. I know struggle. I also know many people do not make it out of the world I came from. Not because they didn’t have a chance, but because they didn’t have the work ethic, dedication or vision to see the end game. On top of that, one of the biggest obstacles people “in the ghetto” have is the ability to accept responsibility for your actions. There are consequences and repercussions in this life. Accepting that and not blaming other people for your failures ( aka big corporations, or rich people for having more than me) is a major issue. Work hard, dedicate yourself, and you can find a way out of anything.

  24. Tito Soto says:

Sean God will always guide my life, and has always given me the strength to succeed. I may be judgmental, just as you are and everyone else is, but I’m not afraid of the truth. You are judging this man as an innocent hungry man, that is a judgement. He may be a ruthless criminal that may molest children or a killer, you, not I have any idea. There are evil people in this world. Don’t pretend they don’t exist.

  25. Tito Soto says:

Glad you have internet in your shack to be on FB

  26. Tito Soto says:

And you do not know me and are judging me based on a few comments, who is being judgmental?

  27. Alicia Ellen says:

    Omg.really.stealing ammo to eat.really now..single mom works two jobs .I’m.not stealing..just saying.

  28. Where’s the ammo now??? Tito Soto you nailed it!! I couldn’t have said it better.

  29. Sean Jamadar says:

Check mate, I’m out. Only god can judge him…

  30. Tito Soto says:

Wow Sean Jamadar, insults and runs away. Sounds like a pigeon to me. I can see that not being judgmental and being compassionate is very much a part of your being. Well compassion for the criminal, not the business owner that lost thousands and will have to pay for the repairs, no compassion for them of coarse.

  31. Anyone see the released tapes? I want to watch

  32. M. OAKLEY says:

    Sean,,
Mario had a job last year working at a restaurant, but he chose to quit that job. People create their own negative circumstances and have to live with the consequences. He knew better than to resort to criminal activities but he made his “free will” choice.

  33. Will Carlson says:

Now let’s use said stollen ammo on him. :)

  34. Glad he was caught. There are other ways to find food.

  35. Ruben Pous says:

Pendejo, surprise from Canyon Country smh

  36. Won’t need that ammo anymore.

  37. MacroView says:

I hope Sean volunteers to go fix the broken door at Oak Tree. And visit his boy Mario in jail.

Words mean nothing. Only actions count.

  38. Dee says:

It’s sad to read comments where people think because you are poor ,it’s ok to steal from others. Honesty, loyalty , goes a long way in life.bad things happen to bad people. Sooner or late your judgement day will come, and that’s no joke.
