LANCASTER – Garrett Hampson delivered four hits and the Lancaster JetHawks held off a late rally by the Inland Empire 66ers in a 9-8 victory on Tuesday night at The Hangar, the JetHawks’ fifth win in a row.

It was Hampson’s third four-hit game of the season. He came a home run shy of the cycle. With the JetHawks down 2-0 in the first, he led off with a triple and scored on Sam Hilliard’s RBI single. Mylz Jones and Dillon Thomas also came through with RBI singles in the frame.

After Inland Empire tied the game on Jack Kruger’s RBI single in the top of the second, the JetHawks put up another three-spot in the bottom of the inning. Roberto Ramos brought in one of the runs with an RBI double.

Hampson delivered a two-out RBI double in the third inning. He singled in the fifth and seventh. Mylz Jones had his second RBI single of the game in the fourth. Chris Rabago also came up with an RBI single.

The JetHawks took a 9-4 lead to the sixth inning, but the 66ers did not go away quietly. Jahmai Jones, who had four hits in the game, led off the sixth with a triple and scored on Jordan Zimmerman’s RBI ground out.

Kyle Survance Jr. homered to lead off the seventh inning. The 66ers scored another run on a passed ball. In the eighth, Zimmerman delivered an RBI double, but committed a critical base running mistake. Representing the tying run at second base with one out, a pitch went off the left shoulder of home plate umpire Ryan Powers. Zimmerman attempted to advance to third and was thrown out by Rabago.

Brandon Gold (4-1) picked up the win for Lancaster. The right-hander allowed five runs on 12 hits in six innings. He walked one and struck out five. Alexander Guillen recorded his 10th save with a perfect ninth inning, including a strikeout. Jose Rodriguez (8-12) allowed nine runs on 10 hits in three and two-thirds innings and suffered the loss.

Roberto Ramos reached all five times with two hits and three walks for the JetHawks. Sam Hilliard scored three runs and drew a pair of walks himself. Inland Empire pitching issued seven free passes on the night. The 66ers out-hit the JetHawks, 16-13.
