[KHTS] – California Highway Patrol Newhall area officers arrested two and impounded two cars Sunday as part of a 3-month undercover investigation into a Santa Clarita Valley car club.
CHP officers worked with the Alcohol Beverage Control and the U.S. Forestry Service shutting down what officers identified on social media as an alleged illegal car club called Realrunners.
Armen Laloyan, 37, of Hesperia, and a juvenile, were both cited and released Sunday. The juvenile was released to his parents.
Both were charged with a violation of the section of vehicle code known as “speed contests.” It states: “A person shall not engage in a motor vehicle exhibition of speed on a highway, and a person shall not aid or abet in a motor vehicle exhibition of speed on any highway.”
A plain-clothed officers from the CHP’s Investigative Services Unit and the ABC reported Sunday members of the club were “performing burnouts and blocking the roadway” on Bouquet Canyon Road in front of Big Oaks Lodge.
Uniformed officers from the Newhall area office and the Forestry Service responded and picked “the most egregious offenders,” officials said.
The investigation was conducted in response to numerous complaints of reckless driving near Big Oaks Lodge on the 33100 block of Bouquet Canyon Road, officials said in a statement.
In addition to the two arrests made Sunday, several other members of the Realrunners club were identified by CHP officials on scene and will be charged for previously committed violations, according to officials.
That was the targeted area for the operation.

Thank you to all CHP Officiers.
3 month operation and only 2 were busted? Talk about our tax dollars hard at work..
I was riding my GSXR in that Canyon that day and came at the tail end of what seemed to be the race group. It was a bunch of heavy modified BMWs driving erraticly through the corners and I smelt the smoke of the tires. Glad they got busted but wished they caught the other 6 that was in front of me. They raced through red lights and all. Glad I was not in the way with those idiots driving.
They scare the $@tt out of me when riding my motorcycle up the canyon. Glad they are getting rounded up.
They scare people driving 70+ Mph on Sierra hwy, weaving in and out of other cars, semis and school buses, I’m SURE they can catch more than just TWO!
3 months, tax payers money, time…glad to see they are efficient! What a joke.
We have a lot of speeding races up here onthe long stretch of Soledad at Sand with horrible fatalities. ANY program we have to stop this misconception of fun is worth it. Thanks !!
Illegal car club?
What makes it illegal?
Is this one of those things where law enforcement puts ‘illegal’ in front of it so the lemmings buy into it and blindly lend law enforcement carte blanche support?
Nice shot at saving the world, guys, but there is far more important work you need to be doing.
