The Ridge Route Preservation Organization will host a Ridge Route Storm Clean Up Day Sunday, Jan. 18 at 7 a.m.
The Ridge Route survey team has assessed the Old Ridge Route and it is passable.
Thanks to the hard work of volunteers, essential culverts were clear and handling water well. Many had been repaired in the months leading up to the recent storms.
A report from the Ridge Route Preservation Organization said the road is passable and it did not sustain any new major damage. There are a few locations where previous damage has progressed, but not by much.
On Sunday, Jan. 18 the work party will focus on clearing dirt and debris from the road and culverts.
The work party will meet in Castaic in the O’Reilly Auto Parts parking lot located at 31675 Castaic Road, Castaic, CA 91384 at 7 a.m.
Please RSVP on the website at https://ridgeroute.org/events/.
Expect to make the trek through the road in it’s entirety. Please show up with a full tank of gas, closed toed shoes and water. Bring a jacket as it can get cold and windy.
Please note: This drive will require vehicles with ground clearance, but 4WD is not required. Only trucks and Jeeps are allowed on this trip. No passenger cars will be permitted.
You will be using shovels, rakes and brush cutters. Bring these tools if you have them. This work is within the Angeles National Forest in a remote area with no restrooms or services.
