The Lancaster JetHawks won their annual exhibition game against the University of Antelope Valley, 8-2, Tuesday night at The Hangar.
Antonio Santos threw five scoreless innings in his return to Lancaster, and the offense recorded 15 hits in eight innings.
Santos allowed just a pair of hits in five innings while striking out five. The righty is back in Lancaster’s rotation after making 12 starts for the JetHawks last year.
Ryan Vilade got the JetHawks on the board with a two-run home run over the batter’s eye in center field in the bottom of the second. Vilade, Colorado’s ninth-best prospect per Baseball America, added an RBI triple in the eighth inning. Todd Czinege chipped in with three hits.
The game was close until the end, with Lancaster scoring five runs over the final two innings to pull away. Braxton Lorenzini, Hunter Williams and Hayden Roberts each pitched in relief for the JetHawks.
The 2019 regular season starts on Thursday, with the JetHawks hosting Modesto. Will Gaddis is slated to pitch the opener for Lancaster opposite Ljay Newsome. First pitch is at 6:35 pm.
