Brendan Rodgers went 4-for-5 and came a double shy of the cycle, as the JetHawks won their fifth straight with an 11-4 victory over the Stockton Ports on Sunday afternoon at The Hangar.

The loss was the seventh consecutive for Stockton. The JetHawks (19-18) are over the .500 mark for the first time since they were 1-0.

Rodgers extended his hitting streak to 12 games and is 25-for-50 during the streak. He had two singles, a triple, home run, two RBI, and three runs scored. He also stole home on the front end of a double steal.

Colin Welmon (3-0) tossed seven strong innings to earn the win. He allowed three runs on four hits and struck out six. All three runs came on solo homers, two from Seth Brown and one by Josh Vidales.

The JetHawks scored in the first inning for the eighth time in 10 games. After Rodgers tripled with one out, Sam Hilliard brought him home with an RBI ground out.

Brown’s first homer for Stockton came in the second and tied the game, 1-1, but Roberto Ramos hit his first long ball of the season for the JetHawks in the bottom of the frame and they would not relinquish the lead again. Ramos picked up three hits for the second consecutive game and came a triple shy of the cycle.

Lancaster scored twice in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead. The Ports cut it to 4-2 on Vidales’s first home run of the year in the top of the sixth. The JetHawks then broke the game open with a six-run bottom of the sixth inning, as they batted around. Mylz Jones brought home the final two runs with a two-run double.

Heath Holder threw a perfect eighth inning out of the Lancaster bullpen. Hilliard and Brian Mundell each recorded two hits for the JetHawks.

The four-game series concludes on Monday night at The Hangar, as the JetHawks go for the sweep. Peter Lambert (1-3) will start for Lancaster against Evan Manarino (2-1). First pitch is 6:35 p.m.
