Major League Baseball announced Sunday that right-handed pitcher Kenley Jansen and outfielder Matt Kemp of the Los Angeles Dodgers were named to the National League All-Star team, which will be managed by Dodger manager Dave Roberts.

Jansen, who was selected via player balloting, and Kemp, who was a fan-elected starter, will both be making their third All-Star appearance.

Major League Baseball’s 89th All-Star Game presented by Mastercard will be played on Tuesday, July 17 at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. at 5 p.m. PT and televised nationally on FOX.

In addition, Dodger infielder/outfielder Max Muncy was selected as a Final Vote candidate and has the opportunity to join Jansen and Kemp on the NL All-Star team via fan balloting, which began Sunday on Dodgers.com or MLB.com/vote, and runs through this Wednesday, July 11, at 1 p.m. PT.

Jansen, 30, entered play Sunday tied for second in the National League with 24 saves while posting a 2.34 ERA, a .189 opponents’ batting average and a 0.94 WHIP in 40 appearances to earn his third consecutive All-Star selection.

Jansen has tossed scoreless relief in 24 of his last 28 games since May 3, while successfully converting 20 of 21 save opportunities in that span.

Jansen, who is in his eighth big league season, is the Dodgers’ all-time leader in saves (254) and strikeouts by a reliever (786).

Kemp, 33, is making his third All-Star appearance (last: 2012) and is a fan-elected starter for the first time since 2011.

Entering play Sunday, Kemp ranked among the NL’s best in batting average (.317, 4th), slugging percentage (.550, 4th) and RBI (57, 10th) in 84 games, while leading the Majors with a .438 batting average with runners in scoring position (28-for-64).

Kemp, who also becomes the first Dodger fan-elected starter since Yasiel Puig in 2014, is in his 13th big league campaign and returned to the Dodger organization after being acquired on December 16, 2017 from the Braves.

Muncy is seeking his first All-Star selection and has made a strong All-Star push by ranking among the Major League’s best (min. 200 PA) in home runs per at-bat (9.80, 1st), plate appearances per walk (5.30, 3rd), slugging percentage (.617, 4th), on-base percentage (.410, 4th), OPS (1.027, 4th) and home runs (20, T-14th), while also hitting .270 with 39 runs, eight doubles and 38 RBI despite playing in just 66 games.

The 27-year-old, who was a non-roster invitee with the Dodgers this spring, had his contract selected in late April and has not looked back since. According to Fangraphs.com, his 3.1 WAR ranks eighth in the National League among hitters with 200 or more plate appearances.

Fans can cast their votes for Muncy from a field of five players from each League over the balloting period, which concludes on Wednesday, July 11 at 1 p.m. PT. Now in its 17th season with more than 760 million votes cast, fans again will be able to make their Final Vote selections on MLB.com, Club sites and their mobile devices.

The winners of the Final Vote will be announced live on MLB Network on Wednesday, July 11 at 4:30 p.m. PT.
