[KHTS] – Six Flags Magic Mountain’s Fright Fest opened for the season this past weekend with new scare zones, shows and fright.
This year, the park has seven mazes and seven scare zones, each with its own theme.
“We are really focused on adding experiences that really immerse you in the product, immerse you in Fright Fest, immerse you in the fun of the holiday and we have added to that layers of lighting, fog, special effects and sound that you hear all around you,” said Pam Bugbee, manager of Entertainment and Events for SFMM. “Those experiences just make it so much more fun to be here and feel that Fright Fest air.”
Mazes this year include: The Willoughby’s Garden of Darkness, Red’s Revenge, Vault 666, The Aftermath, Chupacabra, Toyz of Terror 3D and Willoughby’s Resurrected.
New thrills include: Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Presents “Shadows of Evil The Ride” — which is a madeover, fright-filled Apocalypse, and X2 Satan’s Domain.
Many of the major roller coaster’s lift lights are turned off during Fright Fest to enhance the fear.
Scare Zones this year include: Demon’s Door, ZombieXing, Exile Hill, Nightmares- A Twisted Fantasy, The Wastelands and new this year — TERRORtory Twisted and Sinister Circuit.
“We’ve added TERRORtory Twisted — a whole Scare Zone complete with a show, ‘Unleashed,’” Bugbee said. “DC Universe now is turned into Sinister Circuit with a whole new light show that has fun lighting patterns and upbeat music.
“‘Unleashed’ is really entertaining and great for this age group.”
Other shows include: ‘VooDoo Nights’ and ‘High Sierra Hypnotist.’
For the younger family members, SFMM offers Witch Hazel Pumpkin Patch Crafts, Looney Toons Trick or Treat Masquerade and Looney Toons Characters.
Fright Fest goers can also enjoy Dining with the Dead.
“This is one of the biggest events of the year,” said Sue Carpenter, spokeswoman for SFMM. “We’ve got two new Scare Zones this year, it’s a lot of fun. Come on out. We’ve got so many surprises around every corner.”
Six Flags Magic Mountain’s Fright Fest is open every weekend now until November 1. The park will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays.
