[District Attorney] – A Newbury Park man has pleaded not guilty to charges that he stole items from a home owned by pop star Miley Cyrus, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Rusty Edward Sellner (dob 7/30/92) was charged in case LA080080 with one felony count each of first-degree residential burglary, receiving stolen property and grand theft. He entered his plea yesterday and is scheduled to return to Department 100 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Van Nuys Branch, on Jan. 20 for a preliminary hearing.
Prosecutors allege that on Dec. 16, 2014, Sellner broke into the singer’s Toluca Lake house and removed a large amount of her and her brother’s personal property.
The complaint also alleges that Sellner has two prior convictions in Ventura County for burglary and evading arrest.
If convicted as charged, Sellner faces a possible maximum sentence of seven years, eight months in state prison.
The case is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Division.
