Over 300 students from across the Hart School District and Trinity Classical Academy will gather on the field at Valencia High School for the 6th Annual Hart Games Track and Field Meet, on Tuesday, March 31st, from 10 am to 1 pm. Approximately 320 students receiving specialized instruction have been diligently training in their APE/SDPE/Gen. Ed PE classes and are expected to participate.
The districtwide competition is sponsored by the Adapted Physical Education Department and the Special Olympics, with a goal of stimulating an interest in physical activity among students receiving specialized instruction, and rewarding those who achieve. Students from La Mesa, Placerita, Rancho Pico, Rio Norte, Sierra Vista junior high schools will be participating, as well as students from Canyon, Golden Valley, Valencia high schools and Trinity Classical Academy. The Valencia high school track team is helping with equipment and is providing more than 40 volunteers to ensure the success of this event.
The event features an opening ceremonies and a ceremonial lap around the track. Valencia students Amy Baldwin and Allie Hill together will be singing the National Anthem. Running events start with the 4 x 100 relay and continues with the 200m, 100yard dash,100 yard hurdles and 50 yard dash. Field events that will run simultaneously include the running long jump, high jump, shot put, and softball throw. This year, the javelin throw will be added.The exhausted and elated athletes will receive their ribbons as they cross the finish lanes of their races.
