If someone were to write a manual on how to close a three-game series in dominating fashion, it would read something like TMU’s 13-0 win over visiting Marymount California University at Master’s in the second game of Saturday’s double-header.

Mustang ace Robert Winslow pitched four scoreless, one-hit innings. The offense pieced together nine runs in the second frame. And Eric Williams was nails in relief. It was an open-and-close conclusion to an offensive explosion.

The Mustangs (3-0) scored 15 runs in Friday’s opener. Then they managed five runs early Saturday in a come-from-behind win.

In the series finale, Preston White went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Nick Tuttle was 2-for-2 with three RBIs.

Max Maitland, Jaiden France, Felix King and Adam Rubio each drove in a run.

Winslow struck out eight and walked none in his 2018 debut. He ended 2017 with a 9-5 record and a 2.95 ERA, lifting him into contention for an All-American spot as a junior.

He worked over the offseason on finishing his delivery, and Saturday he pounded the strike zone. He had plenty of slack to work with, too.

In the deciding second inning, Master’s scored nine runs on four hits. Three Mustangs walked with the bases loaded. Tuttle drove in three runs in the frame, one with a perfectly-placed bunt, and Marymount made two errors.

The Mustangs will now travel to Arizona, where they’ll compete in the 4-Him Classic, hosted by Golden State Athletic Conference rival Arizona Christian.

Master’s will play four games — against the University of St. Katherine on Jan. 25; the College of Idaho and Benedictine University (Mesa) on Jan. 26; and Providence Christian College on Jan. 27.
