fataltcA Santa Clarita Valley motorcyclist died from injuries sustained in a collision Sunday night in Canyon Country.

An initial report came around 4:38 p.m. when a concerned resident called the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station about a speeding dirt bike in the Food For Less parking lot at Whites Canyon Road and Soledad Canyon Road, according to Sheriff’s Department records.

Deputies responded to investigate but could not find the dirt bike rider.

At 5 p.m., sheriff and fire officials received a call regarding a crash in the parking lot next to the Walmart on Carl Boyer Drive in Canyon, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department officials.

A  “250cc-style” bike crashed into a moving vehicle in the parking lot.

The driver, who was reportedly not wearing a helmet, was taken to the emergency room where the motorcycle rider died of his injuries.

Officials did not release the names of the either party in the collision.

Deputies are investigating to determine if the two reports might be related, and they are still investigating the cause of the crash.

The collision prompted Sheriff’s Station officials to cordon off a portion of the Walmart parking lot as they investigated the scene.

My condolences go out to the family of garath. I am his neighbor and him and i had just spoke with another neighbor as he was so excited about the night before how he had a time of his life. I was out front of my house preparing my moped for a spin around the neighborhood when he said let’s race a few minutes later he followed me around the block and as I turned on our street he proceeded on his way. . . When minutes later I heard sirens and I called the sheriff station to see where the ambulance were heading and asked if a collision had occurred with a motorcyclist they couldn’t give me too much info. And today I read this online. I’m so sorry for your loss.

  17. Jayme Aliano says:

Prayers to the family, but so hard to feel bad for this situation. Ride a bike and break the law (no helmet) and you are asking for trouble.
