Step onto Main Street in Old Town Newhall and be transported to the ultimate Winter Wonderland, complete with real snow, a chance to meet Santa and of course, tens of thousands of dazzling lights to create the perfect kickoff to the holiday season. The city of Santa Clarita welcomes the community to Light Up Main Street, presented by DrinkPAK, in Old Town Newhall on Saturday, Nov. 16, 4-8 p.m.

This Santa Clarita tradition will feature the highly anticipated Tree Lighting Ceremony, along with holiday festivities to enjoy with your family, friends and neighbors during an evening out on Main Street in the city’s premiere Arts and Entertainment District.

Join the Santa Clarita City Council on the Main Stage in front of the Santa Clarita Public Library Old Town Newhall Branch, 24500 Main St., Santa Clarita, CA 91321 as they lead the countdown to light up the iconic, giant Christmas tree, along with thousands of lights that will illuminate Main Street and transform Old Town Newhall into a holiday wonderland at 5:30 p.m. Following the tree lighting, make sure to stop at Veterans Historical Plaza, 24275 N. Walnut St., Santa Clarita, CA 91321 to experience another special tree paying homage to our Veterans and active-duty military.

In addition to the glistening lights and the Tree Lighting Ceremony, attendees can also enjoy live entertainment and various acts on the Main Stage throughout the event, from carolers to show choirs, with the full schedule as follows:

4–4:20 p.m.: Castaic USD Carolers

4:25–4:55 p.m.: Innovative Show Choir

5–5:15 p.m.: Canyon Theatre Guild

5:20–5:45 p.m.: Mayor’s Speech and Tree Lighting Ceremony

5:50-6:10 p.m.: Hart High Show Choir

6:15–6:35 p.m.: Mission Opera

6:40–6:55 p.m.: Include Everyone Project

7–7:30 p.m.: Vibe Performing Arts

Light Up Main Street will also feature a variety of activities that will make for a memorable evening. Head to the DrinkPAK Lounge, where the presenting sponsor, DrinkPAK, invites all to relax and enjoy the sights with a refreshing drink in hand.

Dive into winter magic by making snow angels in 30 tons of real snow, meeting Santa, as well as beloved characters from Disney’s Frozen and sending holiday wishes to the North Pole.

Spread holiday cheer at the Grinch-tacular Whoville Celebration and enjoy classic games at the Candy Cane Carnival. Multiple inflatable slides, bounce houses and an obstacle course will be set up in the kid-friendly Polar Playground.

Let creativity shine at the Elves’ Arts and Crafts Workshop, and for guests with sensory sensitivities, take a break in the Chill Zone for a calm, comfortable environment. While exploring the festivities, take a moment to visit the business sponsors, Logix Federal Credit Union and Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, as well as other community partners adding to the holiday cheer.

Get ready to treat taste buds to a lineup of sweet and savory food trucks along Lyons Avenue and Main Street. In addition, consider supporting favorite local restaurants and tasting rooms in Old Town Newhall.

Residents are asked to be mindful of road closures that will be in effect for Light Up Main Street. Lyons Avenue will be closed between Walnut Street and Railroad Avenue and Main Street will be closed between Lyons Avenue and the roundabout. Residents are asked to use Railroad Avenue or Newhall Avenue as a detour. Closures on Main Street and Lyons Avenue will begin at 6 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 and will be lifted by midnight.
