Ricardo Medina Jr.
A Green Valley man who starred in the “Power Rangers Samurai” television series has been arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing his roommate with a sword.
The incident was reported Saturday at 3:47 p.m. in the 38000 block of San Francisquito Canyon Road, which is north of LADWP Power House No. 1 and south of Spunky Canyon Road, at the southwest side of the Green Valley community.
The suspect, Ricardo Medina Jr., 36, is being held in lieu of $1 million bail at the Palmdale Sheriff’s Office. Palmdale Station handled the call because the area is just inside the station’s jurisdiction.
According to a sheriff’s statement, Medina and the victim, Joshua Sutter, also 36, “became involved in an argument, which turned into a physical altercation. Suspect Medina retreated to his bedroom with his girlfriend, but victim Sutter followed them and forced the door open. Suspect Medina stabbed victim Sutter once in the abdomen with a sword kept next to the bedroom door.”
Medina called 9-1-1 and remained at the location, the statement said.
Sutter was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Medina was later interviewed by Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives and arrested for murder.
According to the Internet Movie Database (imdb.com), Medina was born July 6, 1977, in Delano and grew up in Downey. He played football in high school and was active in wrestling, street hockey and martial arts. He was the Red Power Ranger in the 2002 television series, “Power Rangers Wild Force.” He returned to the franchise in 2011 and 2012 to star in “Power Rangers Samurai” and also voiced the video game spinoffs. Screen credits include “ER,” “CSI: Miami” and “Confessions of a Pit Fighter.”

I did see this on the news, shall I look out for swords at home?
Some people take their character roles too far.
Wow… such sarcastic and thoughtless comments. It appears to be a case of self defense. Thoughts and prayers to both families.
