The Hart softball team muscled up and beat Chaminade, 11-1. Tracy Chandless capped a three-run third inning with a two-run home run.
Blake Lewis and Sammy Liebman added RBI singles in the fourth inning.
Hart tacked on five more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
In high school track and field, the Canyon boys and girls teams beat Hart in a Foothill League meet. Drew Wolitarsky won two events and was on two winning relay teams for Canyon in a 77-59 win over Hart.
Wolitarsky won the 100 and the 200. He was also on the winning 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams.
The Canyon girls won 104-32 taking all but two events at the meet.
Tiffini Stone and Taylor Thomas each won three events for Canyon.
Stone won the long jump, the triple jump and was on the winning 4×100 relay team
Thomas won the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles and was also on the 4×100 relay team.
The Golden Valley track and field teams swept Saugus for the first time in school history. The Golden Valley girls won74-62 over Saugus, the six-time Foothill League champion.
Golden Valley’s Imani Dixon won three events, the 100, the 200 and was on the winning 4×100 relay team.
The Golden Valley boys won, 85-56, over Saugus. Connor Zindroski won two events, the 110 and 300 hurdles.
In college baseball, The Master’s College lost to Biola, 3-2, in 10 innings. Chris Talley was 2-for-5 for The Master’s College.
The Master’s College had a 2-0 lead in the seventh inning, but Biola, the No. 10 team in the NAIA, scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to tie the score, 2-2.
The Master’s College starter A.J. Work pitched seven shutout innings and scattered seven hits.
In drag racing, Newhall’s Johnny Ahten, the fire captain at Station 76 in Valencia, is headed to the IHRA Nitro Jam at Southwestern International Raceway in Arizona this weekend.
He won the Nitro Jam event in Utah in 2010. He will be racing his Pro Fuel Dragster, named Stump Puller, in the races in Arizona.
In hockey, the Kings beat the visiting St. Louis Blues, 2-1, in a shootout and won their sixth game in a row.
The two teams played to a scoreless tie in regulation. Jeff Carter scored the game-winning goal in the fourth round of the shootout.
The Kings moved into a first-place tie with the Phoenix Coyotes in the Pacific Division standings.
The Kings are back on the ice against the Boston Bruins at Staples Center on Saturday night.
