[KHTS] – Greyson and Forrest Miller were born six months ago, two months before their due date, which caused severe complications for Forrest, although not for Greyson.
The Miller family hosted a Rummage and Bake Sale on Sunday to raise money for Forrest’s medical costs.
“We found out that Forrest is going to need open heart surgery, a series of three jaw surgeries, stomach surgery and abdominal surgery,” said Brittany Miller on her blog.
The Rummage and Bake Sale on Sunday raised about $4,300 for Forrest’s medical costs.
“I’ve always been a business mind type person, my dad always taught me to work hard for my money,” said Miller. “Right now we owe quite a bit of money, and after (Forrest’s) surgeries, the grand total will probably be over $10,000.”
As of Tuesday Aug. 18, over $12,000 has been raised on the Miller family’s You Caring page. Their goal is to raise $15,000.
After seeing several specialists and traveling 1,700 miles for the past few weeks, UCLA doctors have concluded that Forrest will undergo six to seven surgeries in the next year.
Apart from his heart condition, Forrest also suffers from Sleep Apnea, which causes his breathing to fluctuate throughout the night, according to specialists at UCLA.
Due to the heavy financial burden that comes with each surgery, insurance is not able to cover many of the costs.
Over the next two years, Forrest will undergo many surgeries, but through these hardships, the Miller family has remained strong and hopeful.
“This by far will be the hardest year of our lives, but all we can do is trust God to know that everything is going to work out. Forrest is the happiest kid I know and it just makes me so thankful for him and our life,” said Miller.

My son was born with a heart condition and had open heart surgery 11/7/07 he was 14 months old to the parents children are extremely strong and very brave. When I found out my son had to heart condition I blamed myself why did I have to put my son through this. After time I realized it was not a blame game God brought me a very special boy with a special story a special gift. He was a special gift from God a reminder to count my blessings. Children have a special way of letting us know everything will be ok and God has a way of letting us know everything will be ok. This boy has a very special story and when he is grown up and understands the fight and bravery he has over come he will conquer the world.
This family is in my thoughts and prayers!! In a couple months we will be celebrating our son heart anniversary. These kids are fighters
