Kristina White
The Food Network got a little taste of the Santa Clarita Valley when a Salt Creek Grille pastry chef competed on “Guy’s Grocery Game.” The episode aired Sunday night.
Kristina White has worked as a pastry chef at Salt Creek for the past year and has done catering for three. She applied to be on the show after her sister saw an advertisement online.
“I never thought that I would be on TV, but I didn’t even notice the cameras because I was so intune to what I was doing,” she said. “I had no idea what I was getting myself into and it was the most exciting experience of my life.”
New to The Food Network, “Guy’s Grocery Game” is hosted by chef and restaurant owner Guy Fieri. In each episode Guy presents a challenge to four chefs who then quickly find all the ingredients and complete a meal in 30 minutes for three celebrity judges.
“It’s similar to the show ‘Chopped,’ but instead we’re given challenges dealing with everyday grocery shopping,” White said. “We go to our carts, find whatever it is in the grocery store, he gives us the rules.”
Before coming to Santa Clarita, White was food stylist in the movie industry, working on movie’s such as “Gangster Squad” and setting up food demo for talk shows. She graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in Hollywood.
White said her involvement in so many types of cooking helped prepare her for the show.
“I can do the savory and sweet and not just focus on one, I had a good advantage because I had good experience in both,” she said.
