A group of concerned Sand Canyon residents has formed the “Stop Sand Canyon Resort Task Force” in an effort to stop the development of the proposed Sand Canyon Country Club Hotel & Resort.
The Task Force has set a community meeting for The Church of the Canyons on Wednesday, September 11, at 7 p.m.
A 77-acre resort has been proposed for the northeast corner of Sand Canyon Road and Robinson Ranch Road, at 27734 Sand Canyon Road.
The massive commercial facility would be one of the largest resorts in Los Angeles County and nearby residents say it would destroy the quiet rural lifestyle they have worked hard to create and protect.
According to the Task Force, the proposed resort would include the following:
• One of the largest resorts in L.A. County right in the middle of Sand Canyon.
• Zone change for this project will allow for future massive, dense, commercial use throughout the entire canyon forever.
• 3,000 occupants (Guests, employees)
• Main Hotel (1 three-story building, 165,000 square feet)
• Main Hotel Basement & BOH (23,000 square feet)
• Wedding Hotel (3 three-story buildings, 67,500 square feet)
• View Villas (14 two-story villas, 110,000 square feet)
• Oak Villas (9 one-story & 1 two-story villas, 47,500 square feet)
• Grand Ballroom (10,000 square feet)
• Junior Ballroom (3,000 square feet)
• Meeting room & pre-function space (10,700 square feet)
• Dining (3 restaurants with kitchens, 25,000 square feet)
• Spa/Gym/Salon (33,000 square feet)
The community meeting will provide residents an opportunity to discuss the potential impact of the resort on the area.
The Church of the Canyons is located at 28050 Sand Canyon Road, Santa Clarita 91387.
