Saugus High School opened its doors for the first time in September 1975 to 870 ninth and 10th grade students. Forty years later, the school is planning to celebrate.

On September 8, 2015, Saugus High School will be having a big day, inviting alumni and past staff back to the campus for tours (the changes are significant), a large assembly involving every current student and appearances by past teachers and alumni who have gone on to make significant contributions to the world.

“Saugus High School is proud of its four decades of service to this community,” said current Saugus principal Bill Bolde. “More than 22,000 students and over 1,000 staff members have called this campus home and it will be good to see some familiar faces on September 8th.”

The assembly in the gym will feature video and slide presentations showing life before and after the high school was built, presentations from political leaders, and an appearance by the school’s founding principal, 91-year-old Dr. Myron Sproul.

“We’re very proud of the rich history and all of the outstanding contributions Saugus High School has made to the community,” said Hart School District Superintendent Vicki Engbrecht.

“Having been a part of this school for 31 years has personally given me a unique connection with Centurion families through the years,” Bolde said. “I’m very proud of what we stand for and how we approach educating students. We look forward to this special celebration as a way of remembering our past successes as we anticipate where the future will take us.

Tours will be held starting at 7:30 in the morning on September 8th, with the main program getting underway at 11 am in the gym. For more information and to schedule a tour, contact Bill Bolde (wbolde@hartdistrict.org) or Tracy Moscoe (tmoscoe@hartdistrict.org), or call 661-297-3900.

Good old Cow Pie High. Hung out in Mr. Garrisons room at lunch with friends. We all gave our lunch money to the person closest to the cafeteria and they ran for our food. My one regret was that they didn’t have choirs that’s why I wanted to go to Hart HS. They had an awesome music and performing arts group.
