SCVTV, the Santa Clarita Valley’s only local television channel, has been nominated as Small Business of the Year by the SCV Chamber of Commerce, which is celebrating 90 years.
The chamber will present awards at its 90th anniversary installation dinner, Friday, Jan. 17, at 5:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Valencia. Awards will also be presented for medium and large businesses of the year, and special achievement.
“We are passionate about providing quality programming and timely information for the community,” SCVTV CEO Leon Worden said. “It’s an honor to be nominated for this award, alongside other excellent companies. It reminds us of the importance of integrity in serving the SCV.”
SCVTV supports the Chamber of Commerce in a variety of ways, including free promotion of chamber events on SCVTV and SCVNews.com, advertising discounts for chamber members and televising shows such as Fred Arnold’s “Out of the Rough” and “SCV Newsmaker of the Week,” which regularly feature interviews with local business and nonprofit leaders. With its coverage of special events and public service announcements, the station also supports more than 100 local nonprofit organizations, including the chamber. In 2013, SCVTV also launched a daily e-newsletter that features top headlines and stories, in addition to serving as an advertising vehicle.
“They’re a huge Chamber supporter,” said Terri Crain, president and CEO of the SCV Chamber, adding the awards are a great way to acknowledge and thank member businesses and organizations. “They’re just great community supporters.”
In addition to SCVTV, the other nominees for Small Business of the Year are Advanced Audiology, Fast Frame, Joie de Vivre Photography and Skycrest Signs & Graphics. Nominated for Medium Business of the year are Camelot Movers, Mission Valley Bank, Persia Restaurant, The Signal and Union Bank. The nominees for Large Business of the Year are Advanced Bionics, Chiquita Canyon Landfill, FPK Security, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital and Kaiser Permanente. The Special Achievement nominees are Betty Wynn, Chris Kaub, Gary Choppe, John Musella and Mary Gregory.
