The Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival is back, and continuing an expanded season with Summer Theatre Festival 2019 events through August.
The annual Induction of the Court of the Lord Chamberlain will take place at a gala and celebration at The Centre in Santa Clarita on Friday, July 12, starting at 6:30 p.m.
This year’s inductees will be two Santa Clarita Arts Commission members well-known in the community — Susan Shapiro and Dr. Michael Millar.
The induction celebration will include dinner, music and wine. The cost is $65. To purchase tickets, click here.
Shakespeare Festival sponsorship and additional donation opportunities are on the same page. Generous support from the community has helped make it possible for the theater group to improve and expand its offerings in 2019.
Other upcoming Summer Theatre Festival events include:
* Saturday, July 13: Gift of Song Concert – Red Carpet Revue at The Main
* Sunday, July 14: Gift of Song Concert – Showcase Series at The Main
* July: Molière’s “Tartuffe” at The Main
* August: Free Shakespeare – “Julius Caesar” at the Newhall Family Theatre
Also in July: a Children’s Summer Puppet Class with Master Puppet Maker Steve Troop at The Main in Newhall.
This wonderful class for students 9-16 will combine the craft of puppet making and with the skills of performing and none of the stage fright.
Students will design and build their own puppet, and learn to bring them to life. Your child will design, cut and glue to create their puppet while learning acting and improv techniques to make a performance at the end of the course.
The four-week class will begin on Tuesday, July 9, from 10 a.m. to noon, and meet Tuesdays and Thursdays at the same time.
The enrollment fee is $200 per student (includes all supplies). Enrollment is limited. The start date will be announced soon.
