A burglary occurred in the 24700 block of Pico Canyon. The rear glass door, adjacent to a cash register that is visible from the outside, had two spider like cracks consistent with a rock being thrown at it. There was no suspect information at the time of this report.

A grand theft occurred at a business in the 27700 block of The Old Road. The victim’s high end handbags and miscellaneous clothing was taken from a luggage carrier trailer attached to his personal vehicle. There was no suspect information at the time of this report.

Two burglary to a vehicle incidents occurred at residences. The first incident occurred in the 25300 block of The Old Road. The victim’s car window was smashed and her “Guess” brand sunglasses were taken. The second incident occurred in the 25500 block of Hemingway Drive. The victim’s window frame was bent out and a laptop computer, a high end purse, wallet, and other miscellaneous bags were taken. There was no suspect information at the time of these reports.

Two shoplifting incidents occurred at a business in the 25400 block of The Old Road. During the first incident Loss Prevention personnel observed the suspect exit the store without paying for a laptop. The Deputies arrived and took the suspect into custody who was unable to get her vehicle to start. During the second incident, a Hispanic male and female placed multiple items in a shopping cart and walked out of the business without paying. The suspects abandoned the property when confronted by Loss Prevention in front of the store. They fled in a tan colored Chevy Blazer SUV with “CARS4U” paper plates. These cases are currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station Detectives.

A bicycle theft occurred in front of a business in Stevenson Ranch. The bicycle, a black “Diamondback” one speed bike with black rims, belonged to an employee who had chain locked the bicycle to a pole in front of the business. Another employee witnessed the incident and described the suspect as a Hispanic male wearing a white hat. There was no additional suspect information available at the time of this report.

Here are a few safety tips for when at home:

* Never open the door to persons you don’t recognize. Don’t be afraid to ask for identification.

* Do not allow persons you don’t know into your home to use the phone. Offer to make the call for them.

* Before entering your home, have your keys ready before you reach the door.

* Close your blinds and drapes at night. Always lock your doors.

* Do not let callers know you are home alone. Use “we” instead of “I”. Never give out personal information over the phone.

* Post “beware of dog” signs as a crime deterrent on the exterior of your home whether or not you own a dog.

I encourage you to pass these safety tips along to family and friends, and as always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
