1873 - Vasquez gang raids Kingston in (now) Kings County; ties up townspeople, makes off with $2,500 in cash and jewels [story]
Kingston

Two suspects in Wednesday afternoon’s home invasion robbery of an elderly Valencia man have been arrested and charged.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Deputies said “a coordinated quick-paced response,” led to the arrests of Angel Romo, 25, of Mission Hills and Courtney Waller, 25, of Canyon Country and the recovery of the victim’s stolen vehicle and property.

The home invasion occurred in the early afternoon hours of July 6, when the suspects robbed a 99-year-old man at gunpoint at his residence on Tournament Road in Valencia.

When a Santa Clarita Sheriff’s deputy responded to the location of the robbery, he noticed a man, matching the description of the suspect, getting into a car parked near the victim’s residence. The deputy said that the man, later identified to be suspect Angel Romo, was “acting nervous and sweating profusely.” The man was detained and found to have a $75,000 misdemeanor warrant in the system. When the suspect’s car was searched, heroin and drug paraphernalia were retrieved.

In the nearby proximity, a deputy saw a female walking along Wiley Canyon Road.  The female, later identified as Courtney Waller, matched the description of the second home invasion robbery suspect.  She was detained by responding deputies and both her and Romo were positively identified by the victim as being the suspects who had robbed him at his home.

Patrol deputies located the victim’s stolen car on the 24000 block of Avenida Crescenta. Inside the Ford Escort, deputies recovered the victim’s stolen property as well as a 12 gauge shotgun and case.

The two suspects, Angel  Romo, 25, and Courtney Waller, 25, were arrested, transported and booked on multiple felony charges including robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, vehicle theft, felon in possession of firearm, false imprisonment, and intimidating a victim.
