The California Department of Transportation plans to close U.S. Highway 101 on-ramps and off-ramps at Mussel Shoals and La Conchita for two nights in each community during the next two weeks.
The Mussel Shoals on-ramp and off-ramp are scheduled to be closed:
* Wednesday night, Aug. 31, at 10 p.m. through Thursday morning, Sept. 1, at 6 a.m.
* Thursday night, Sept. 1 at 10 p.m. through Friday morning, Sept. 2 at 6 a.m.
The La Conchita on-ramp and off-ramp are scheduled to be closed:
* Wednesday night, Sept. 7 at 10 p.m. through Thursday morning, Sept. 8 at 6 a.m.
* Thursday night, Sept. 8 at 10 p.m. through Friday morning, Sept. 9 at 6 a.m.
Residents, drivers and businesses are strongly advised to plan for the closures and expect delays. The closures are scheduled to last up to eight hours, weather permitting, and are subject to change. Access for emergency vehicles will be available during the closures.
The closures are necessary as part of a $3.6 million pavement rehabilitation project on a three-mile section of Highway 101. Caltrans is repaving ramps and portions of travel lanes between the Ventura/Santa Barbara county line and half a mile north of the Mobil Pier Undercrossing.
C.A. Rasmussen, Inc. is the contractor on the project, which started in March and is estimated to be completed at the end of this year. The improvements are being paid for by state and federal funds.
The California Highway Patrol will be on duty. Caltrans reminds drivers to “Be Work Zone Alert.”
