1772 - Spanish Capt. Pedro Fages arrives; camps at Agua Dulce, Castaic, Lake Elizabeth, Lebec, Tejon [story]
Pedro Fages

A man and a woman were arrested Monday after they were found in possession of $5,000 worth of steel pipe and a third person in their little group was arrested on a drug charge.

The incident unfolded at 9:15 a.m. when a sergeant from the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s Parks Bureau was patrolling Dr. Richard Rioux Park on Faulkner Drive in Stevenson Ranch and stopped a truck for a traffic violation.

The sergeant approached the vehicle and noticed a large amount of stainless steel pipe in the back of the truck.

The sergeant discovered that the vehicle’s three occupants were residents of Ojai and upon further investigation determined that the booty matched the description of pipes stolen from a building in that city.

Ventura County Sheriff’s detectives were called in and they placed two of the vehicle’s three occupants under arrest for receiving stolen property. The two were identified as Scott Gannon, a male white adult, and Della Brown, a female white adult.

The vehicle’s third occupant, Timothy Creech, identified as a male white adult, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and held at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station in lieu of $10,000 Bail. He, too, will be charged by Ventura County officials for receiving stolen property, according to a report from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

In the report, sheriff officials note that the Parks Bureau is “dedicated to providing a safe and drug-free environment at all Los Angeles County parks.”
