The City of Santa Clarita is partnering with the Valley Trauma Center to host the 6th Annual Children’s Safety Fair on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Newhall Community Center, 22421 Market Street.
The Children’s Safety Fair brings together more than 30 local agencies in one location to provide information, demonstrations, and advice on a range of children’s safety issues including child abuse, mental health, nutrition, education, and bicycle and car seat safety.
The primary focus of the event is interactive workshops for parents and teens including:
– The Dangers of Cyber Bullying, hosted by the Valley Trauma Center
– Stranger Danger, taught by award-winning martial artist David Moreno
– A substance abuse workshop by Detective William Velek of the Los Angeles County Sheriffs department.
The event is designed with families in mind, allowing parents to attend workshops while kids enjoy face painting, games, and a moon bounce. Entertainment includes live performances by Greg Fontenette, the Community Center Cheer Team Xochitl’s Girls, and Luz Medina’s Ballet Folkclorico Dancers. A complimentary lunch will be provided courtesy of Cabo Cabana Fresh Mexican Grill and attendees have an opportunity to enter a raffle to win a bicycle and helmet.
For more information on the 6th Annual Children’s Safety Fair, call Susie Cordova, community center resource coordinator at 661-286-4006 ext. 5061.
