A plan to include a Walmart Neighborhood Market announced last week by management at Westfield Valencia Town Center has been put off to date uncertain, according to the City of Santa Clarita.
The application, which is Master Case 12-056, Development Review 12-002, was to be heard during the regular Planning Commission meeting on October 16, but city spokeswoman Gail Ortiz advised KHTS that it has been taken from the agenda at the request of Westfield with no target date for its return.
The plan would have required massive changes to the urban shopping mall; placing the store in a 30,399 square-foot vacant space at the Sears side of The Patios area would have involved redesigning the vehicle entrance for the mall at Valencia Boulevard, redesigning parking areas south of the Patios, as well as redesigning the parking lot south of Sears, building a new shopping cart return area, elevated loading dock and significant changes on the building’s façade.

This is not what we. There are already three within a couple of miles. Bring us a Nordstrom and upscale shopping. Do not bring us another Walmart. We have very few options that offer quality goods and services in the SCV.
Classy choice, Westfield! Why did they bother with the Patios if they are going to add a Walmart grocery store? Just one more reason for me to dislike this shopping center. I hope the plans are not approved. People in Santa Clarita can drive to the other 3 Walmarts in the area for their groceries.
