Highway 126 will get wider, a flyover bridge will replace the four-way intersection at 126 and Commerce Center Drive, the intersection of Commerce Center and Henry Mayo Drive will be signalized, and the entrance to Travel Village will move.
On Tuesday the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is slated to allocate the first $2 million to get the $55 million project started.
Tuesday’s action would award a five-year construction management contract to Parsons Corp., a nationwide engineering and management firm founded in 1944 by Ralph M. Parsons.
Of the total project price tag, $9.2 million is to be financed by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the rest would come from fees collected through a future Westside bridge and thoroughfare district.
The description of the project follows:
“The State Route 126/Commerce Center Drive project consists of a full-movement, grade-separated interchange at the existing State Route 126/Commerce Center Drive intersection.
“This project also proposes the widening of State Route 126 (from) 3,412 feet east of the intersection with Commerce Center Drive to 2,789 feet west of the intersection; the realignment of Henry Mayo Drive to the south to create a signalized intersection with Commerce Center Drive; and the relocation and signalization of the Travel Village entrance along State Route 126.”
