Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Crime Prevention Unit
This week in Canyon Country East we had 14 Part-1 crimes. Of those crimes, there were 4 residential burglaries, 3 larcenies, 1 vehicle burglary and 6 stolen vehicles.
An attempted burglary occurred in the 27000 block of Rock Rose Lane. The victim saw a male attempting to lift his garage door. Deputies responded and arrested the suspect. Two garage burglaries occurred in the 18100 block of Sundowner Way. A garage burglary occurred in the 27500 block of Rosa Lane.
Suspect(s) attempted to steal a catalytic converter from a 1991 Toyota in the 17000 block of St. Stephen Avenue. A catalytic converter was stolen from a 2007 Nissan in the 16400 block of Palomino Drive. A vehicle burglary occurred in the 27900 block of Solamint Road.
Incidents of grand theft auto occurred near Jakes Way and Sandy Drive, Jakes Way and Palo Verde Place, Jason Drive and Flynn Drive, in the 29500 block of Mammoth Lane and in the 28800 block of Oak Springs Canyon.
We have seen an increase in residential burglaries throughout Santa Clarita. In most instances entrance is being made through an unlocked side garage door or unlocked or open main garage door. Always lock your gates leading to your rear yard to deter anyone from entering your property. We have also seen an increase in vehicle thefts. Make sure to always park in well lighted areas and be cognizant of your surroundings. If you see any suspicious activity, either close to your home or while you are out shopping, call the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station at (661) 255-1121 or 9-1-1 in an emergency.
