The Saugus Union School District has announced three new administrative leaders for the 2014-15 school year. Board of Trustees’ President Paul De La Cerda commented, “We are excited to have such wonderful and experienced leaders to take on new roles in the District.”
Isa DeArmas has been appointed as the new Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Isa worked as a teacher for the LA Archdiocese for 11 years and has worked in Saugus since 1996 as a classroom teacher, Assistant Principal, and has spent the last 10 years as a principal at Rio Vista and Tesoro del Valle Elementary Schools. Isa is known for her positive outlook, solid understanding of instruction, and leadership skills. Isa has her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Management from the University of La Verne and is one year away from completing a Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Brandman University.
Rose Villanueva has been selected as the new Coordinator of the Child Development Programs. Rose began teaching in 1996 with LAUSD and then in 2005 joined the Saugus Union School District as a teacher at Santa Clarita Elementary. In July 2012, she joined the Antelope Valley Union High School District as a Coordinator of Educational Services and a Vice Principal where she ran the GATE, EL, and Migrant Programs including preschool, afterschool, and Saturday programs. Rose has her Master’s degree in Instruction from National University and will begin her Doctoral degree this fall at Brandman University.
Kathy Stendel has been named the new principal of Rosedell Elementary School. Kathy began her teaching career as a 5th grade teacher in Sulphur Springs in 1989. After one year she began teaching in Saugus at Cedarcreek Elementary School but also taught in both general education and special education assignments at Helmers, Mountainview, and Northpark Elementary Schools. Prior to becoming the Principal of Rosedell, Kathy was the Assistant Principal at Northpark Elementary School. Kathy has her Master’s Degree from the University of La Verne in Educational Leadership and Management.
