A Rosamond man arrested for kidnapping one day after he was arrested for burglary is due back in court at the end of next month for another hearing.
Guillermo Lomeli Ceniceros, 39, is accused of trying to abduct a 13-year-old girl around 8:30 a.m. Nov. 12, near the intersection of Sierra Highway and Jakes Way, in Canyon Country, officials said.
Witnesses reported to detectives an older Hispanic man attempted to grab and kidnap a teenage girl. One witness stopped their vehicle yelled at the suspect, who was fighting with the alleged victim, according to Sheriff’s Department officials.
“This arrest was made with the help of a proactive citizen who took the time to help out a fellow resident in need,” said Detective Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, last year, shortly after the arrest.
The witness told the girl to run away, and then the witness kept an eye on the suspect and directed the responding deputies to his location, according to Sheriff’s Station officials.
Ceniceros was taken into custody a second time shortly after the alleged kidnapping attempt.
The victim came forward the following day, after officials reached out to the community.
Cisneros was charged with five counts, including attempted kidnapping for child molesting and attempted aggravated sexual assault.
He’s due back in court for a preliminary hearing June 30.
He’s being held in lieu of more than $3 million bail.
Sheriff’s Station official put out Nixle reports as a way to notify residents about urgent alerts and upcoming events.
