The Master’s University’s women’s soccer team’s 2016 record moved to 4-4-2 (0-2 GSAC) after falling to Biola University 4-0 Tuesday night.
After a scoreless first half that featured six shots and three saves from TMU, the 12th-ranked Eagles posted four unanswered goals over the course of 18 minutes in the second stanza.
Despite being unable to find an answer to Biola’s relentless attack, TMU collectively posted nine shots and four shots on goal. Hailey Gomillion paced TMU’s efforts with three shots.
“I thought we played well for 70 minutes and then had some mental mistakes that let the game get away from us,” commented TMU head coach Curtis Lewis. “We are a young team, and I think we worked hard but not smartly after the second goal that was scored on us. There are some good and bad things that we can take away from tonight. Credit Biola and Coach Erin for coming out in the second half and putting pressure on us. They are a quality team. We need to solve some spacing issues and capitalize on the opportunities we are creating. We have a big road test on Saturday against San Diego Christian College.”
This Saturday, the Lady Mustangs will look to earn their first conference win of the season as TMU travels to El Cajon for a 1:30 p.m. match against San Diego Christian (6-4-1, 1-1-1) on the campus of Cuyamaca College.
