Tip of the Week: Vacation Time! Who is Watching Your House?
Summer is here, and many of us will be taking long trips away from our homes. Unfortunately, thieves know this as well.
So what do they look for?
Basically, any indication that a home has been unattended for a few days, like numerous newspapers on the driveway, overgrown lawns, vehicles in the driveway or street that look dirty from lack of movement, and an overstuffed mailbox.
So what can we do?
The best thing you can do is have a neighbor or family member keep up on your home while you are away. Assure that the mail and newspapers are brought in daily. Consider hiring someone to take care of the landscaping needs around your home while you are gone. Use timers on the interior lights to make your home appeared occupied.
These few things can make your home look active and deter a thief from targeting your home.
