This was very tragic. My condolences to his family and friends. I dislike inaccurate reporting. I was on this ride with Mr. Miller. I’ve ridden with him a dozen times. He is always the last one in the group (riding in the back) and never felt pressured to “keep up.” He “rode his own ride” at a safe and leisurely pace. We always pulled over and waited for him, and it was never more than 5 minutes. This time, he didn’t show up. We don’t know what actually happened as he was behind everyone. But I can guarantee you, Henry was not traveling at an “unsafe speed.” That is only speculation and gives riders a bad reputation. The officer should have more accurately said, “It is unknown if speed was a factor.” Henry Miller was an exception to the statistics. R.I.P. my friend.
I too have ridden with Henry many times and don’t think I have ever met Hank. I say this because the following is what I wrote on another site. You can see we both have the same assessment of Henry’s riding;
With all due respect to Highway Patrol Officer Josh Greengard, I have it on good authority that Henry crashed due to a medical event that incapacitated him. I can tell you from numerous rides with Henry, He was a conservative rider and always road at the back of the pack so that he could maintain a comfortable, safe speed. Officer Greengard I urge you to look further into this matter. Please view the crash seen photos again and ask yourself, if someone riding at the speed limit or below lost consciousness in a turn, causing a 3 wheeled motorcycle to veer off the road, hitting a sign with one of the steered wheels (this motorcycle has two front wheels and one in the back), causing it to flip over and hit a rock, could this falsely appear to be due to excess speed?
Henry was a great person and nothing changes, he has passed away, other than its not fare to have the record show that died recklessly if he was not reckless.
