Pam Riplin, Executive Director, Circle of Hope

Here’s the July 2017 newsletter from Circle of Hope, a Santa Clarita-based nonprofit organization serving breast cancer patients and their families.

July 2017

A Message from the Executive Director:

You might have noticed, my title has changed! Having handed over the presidential gavel to the newly elected Taylor Kellstrom, I now assume the role of Executive Director. I am honored and proud to do so. Working in service of our brave cancer warriors and their families is at once rewarding, joyful, and heart-breaking. On May 2, 2017, one of those brave fighters came to the end of her life journey.
Dayvena
McGruder was more than a Circle of Hope client, she was a part of our family. She was a person of integrity, spirit, devotion and love. Her family writes,”Dayvena loved life and always lived it to the fullest each and every day. Her life journey was filled with challenges she loved, blessed with accomplishment, and she consistently looked for opportunities to help, recognize, and lift up others…. Dayvena always put others first. She would go out of her way to make someone feel special. God blessed her with many gifts which she truly utilized to make the world a better place.” We feel that way, too. Dayvena, her husband Darmon and son Donovan made Santa Clarita their home for 34 years. She will be greatly missed.

July’s Community Partner: SCV Non-Profit Coalition of Cancer Organizations

Did you know that Circle of Hope is a member of the newly formed SCV Non-Profit Coalition of Cancer Organizations? This committed group of cancer charities is comprised of the American Cancer Society, City of Hope, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Michael Hoefflin Foundation for Children’s Cancer, and Circle of Hope. The group recently came together to organize their first event, a collaboration for the first annual SCV Survivor Day on June 24, 2017. Circle of Hope is very honored to a part of this dedicated group of individuals and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside them on behalf of our survivors!
Board Member
Spotlight: Pamela Braly
Circle of Hope is proud to call Pamela Braly one of its own. A native Canadian, Pamela, along with her husband Hunt, is a long-time Valencia resident, where the couple has raised their two lovely daughters. Known for her wit, experience, and charitable compassion, Pamela has served the Santa Clarita nonprofit community well and currently assists the veteran population of Habitat for Humanity of SFV/SCV through various art therapy programs. She has just finished her term as Circle of Hope’s treasurer, and continues to serve the organization as a director-at-large. Thank, you Pamela, for your dedication to Santa Clarita’s cancer community!
