Victoria, I live in Green Valley, I make two round trips a day to SCV via San Francisquito. My kids go to school down there. There is a boat load of crazy a$$ drivers. No respect for others on the road. I hope this was just a terrible accident with no stupidity involved.
Request after request…… can’t keep the sheriff’s up on San Francisquito to stop these crazy a$$ drivers. They speed and pass on double yellow lines and curves. Need law enforcement up here 24/7 !!!!!
It’s not the Sheriff’s area to patrol. It is the responsibility of the California Highway Patrol. In this area it falls under the Newhall area office. 661-294-5540 you can call them and request additional enforcement. Stay safe
If you’re making “request after request” to the sheriff, it’s falling on deaf ears because it’s not the sheriff’s patrol area. It’s CHP.
Sorry, just upset about this accident. I meant the CHP.
Unfortunately, there are speeders everywhere. There are not enough officers to patrol everywhere at the same time, and sit 24/7 on one particular street or highway. It is not the CHP’s fault. Drivers need to take responsibility and mind the traffic laws; but some don’t so we see collisions.

FYI…… Some of you just don’t get it. I’ve lived up here almost 20 years and our Dodge ram truck was almost totaled because a woman was speeding down San Fransquito cyn, passing illegally on curves and she hit us to avoid a car coming the opposite direction. When asked by the CHP why she was speeding and passing on solid yellow lines, she replied “I was late for work” We were told by the CHP at the accident scene, to call them several times a week to get patrol cars up here! They are under staffed and are doing the best they can. Their are weekly bad accidents on this road because most of the people driving crazy don’t live up here, they are commuting from the Palmdale Lancaster area, to avoid the 14 Fwy. Because of the fact that it’s DIFFICULT to get the CHP on San Fransquito Cyn, the wreckless drivers know that they can speed and break traffic laws. This unfortunate accident is one of MANY that have occured and probably will continue to, on this canyon. I agree, it’s not the canyon and NEVER said it was the CHP’s fault who are told by their office what areas to patrol, it’s the drivers that don’t care about anybody else and will risk everybody lives!

Every year!!
I almost died on San Fran in a roll over crash. I was ejected and landed on the mountain and thousands of stitches later I am alive… (Still have glass and gravel in my body) So many have lost their lives on this horrible road! It needs to be straightened or shut down!
What needs to happen is for people to use common sense while driving this road. Unfortunately, many drivers find out, the hard way, what happens when you take one of the curves at 80 MPH or pass over a solid yellow line.
I was 4 and the lip of the road caught the tire and our bronco flipped. It’s not always speeders…
I drove that road for years its not the roads fault its people
this is not the answer. I drive this road safely every day. People just need to slow down and pay attention. Period
I call San Francisquito “alternate 14” because most of the commuters are from the AV avoiding the freeway. They need to put another road going out of palmdale to fix it but they won’t
Really, why do I read comments. It’s the roads fault when a car flips over. Just like it’s the guns fault when somebody is shot or the spoons fault when somebody gets fat. Cars do not just flip over unless mechanical failure, operator error or negligence. Just wow! I drove the same road for 17 years and just drove past that exact stop sign 3 days ago yet my car has never flipped over or crashed. But the speeders were really bad that day, they are psycho drivers on that road.
nothing seems to change. I grew up in Green Valley over 30 years ago and my dad worked on the volunteer fire department. there was always someone driving crazy on these roads.
We lived on San Francisquito for many years. Travelled that road several times a day. Crazy commuter drivers that would pass other drivers over the double yellow and on blind curves. We were involved in a very serious accident by a drunk driver crossing the lines and striking us head on…. I would agree…. The drivers are the issue. Not the road.
Scary Kyle Sutton since we were just there
Kathy Nusslein Cebulak
Same situation on Bouquet Canyon. Passing on blind curves etc. Insanity.
So so sorry….my prayers to the family

I feel for this young man’s family. I pray that God embraces them in his love and grace. That said, for all those criticizing the speedsters driving on SFCR, there are also those drivers who drive too slow. The speed limit is not a suggestion, so unless there is a hazardous reason to not drive the speed limit, then drive the posted speed limit. It is wrong to speed as well as drive too slow. I come across both sets of drivers each and every day I drive on SFCR. More turn outs need to be added. If you are scared of this road, then don’t drive on it.
