Two men were arrested Thursday afternoon after a man alleged that they jumped him and took some of his money when he walked home from the Via Princessa Metrolink station.
The victim told sheriff’s deputies that he was walking along Sierra Highway near Sandy Drive when two men jumped out of the bushes and demanded his money.
When he refused, he said they started punching and kicking him, knocking him to the ground.
A passerby shouted for the suspects to stop and that they were going to call the police, causing the pair to flee the area. The victim’s injuries were not serious.
They were caught in the area shortly after deputies arrived at the scene. Raymond Gatica, a 19-year old male Hispanic and Gari Flores, an 18-year old male Hispanic, were taken into custody and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley station. Gatica is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail; Flores’ bail has been set at $80,000, possibly related to an earlier arrest in June. Both men are scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
