[KHTS, Allison Pari] A Baby Jesus figurine is missing from the Nativity display at the Westfield Valencia Town Center.
Stacie House, marketing director for Westfield Valencia, said that mall staff are trying to get more information about the apparent theft and asking Santa Clarita Valley residents for any information they might have.
“Of course all we are looking for is for him to be returned safely, no questions asked,” she said.
They are also reviewing security footage of the area for any clues about what might have happened to the Baby Jesus figurine.
This is the not the first year that Baby Jesus has disappeared from the Nativity scene at the mall. Even private Nativity displays have not been immune.
“It has happened in the past,” House said. “To my knowledge, one other time.”
As many as a dozen Baby Jesus figurines were stolen in 2007 before turning up at a local Catholic church, according to CatholicLeague.org.
House said that this time they are hoping the figurine will be returned.
“We really would like to have him back in our scene in celebration of the holiday season,” she said.
