Looks like all new roads lead to golden valley
In other news, 100,000 new homes will be built in the area to defeat the purpose of clearing up traffic with new roads.
True but I doubt they will build more there now
100% correct!! There’s plenty of acreage to put in those new homes. Gotta love the traffic in Awesome town!!

They need to connect Wiley to Golden Valley. There are not many routes to cross the Valley right now.

That is a picture of the alternative alignment. The road will connect to Golden Valley Rd. Then eventually connect to Wiley Cyn. through Circle J
It cannot be put in until the Bermite property has been completely cleared of contaminants. It didn’t really have anything to do with Open Space it was solely on the soil contamination. The project at that time seeking approval was called Porta Bella. Porta Bella developers dissolved or went bankrupt but Bermite is still responsible for clean-up and that is on-going. I see the work every day from my backyard in Circle J.
Thank goodness! Too bad it didnt connect to where the skatepark is.

No, Valley View will not be affected. It’s on the other side of Sierra Highway not near this part of Via Princessa.

Golden Valley is one light up from Rainbow Glen if you are going south on Sierra Hwy.
Could we possibly move things along with connecting to Wiley Canyon at the same time? I’m still bitter that I can’t cut through placerita canyon anymore! ?
Residents of Placerita Cyn voted to keep their road private so they wouldn’t have to straighten & widen roads. Agree biggest issue is getting cross valley from Newhall
That and the fact the City would not maintain the asphalt streets.
Wish the City would have adopted the ridgeline preservation ord that Thousand Oaks did. I don’t get how turning the SCV into the SFV will increase the quality of life. When the open spaces are gone, they’re gone….forever.
La Mesa JH has almost a thousand kids walking/crossing Via Princessa one block from a Rainbow Glen,not to mention multiple developments right there. Six lanes will be like a freeway, there’s no water for landscaping the median,and the wildlife that will be displaced will be out of control. Ugh! I remember when SCV was the place to live. (Please no nasty comments necessary- this is my opinion as a resident on the construction path)

This will free up traffic overall in the area, and make it easier and quicker to get across town. That means less driving and less traffic. I don’t think the project would make sense if it caused more traffic, but it will do the opposite.
Welcome to the rest of Santa Clarita. Unfortunately while opening roads frees up traffic, it also creates more safety hazards for the kids

I’m guessing that it’ll be completed after my son is no longer going to GVHS. It would definitely be faster getting there if it was completed while he was still going three.

Ugh, we live in Circle J. I’m dreading the traffic and other potential issues/concerns we have once they connect the roads. It’s a nice closed off community which is why we moved here.

But the rest of the valley needs an additional route for reasons other than cutting time (like if there is an accident on Soledad or Sierra Highway, and Plum Canyon is way too far out of the way.
I understand the need but when it’s your neighborhood that’s going to be affected by it you definitely dread all the issues that come along with it.
That’s nice BUT what ever happened to the plan to extend Via Princessa Newhall to Via Princessa Canyon Country?!?! That was supposed to happen MANY MANY years ago! I know the complaint was that there is the Open Space that no one wanted to build up on, BUT all we need is the road! No one ever wanted businesses or homes along the road that would ruin the Reserve, just more of a way to cut down travel time.

What about Via Princessa to Via Princessa/Wiley Canyon? It makes more sense.
This is a futile effort that will only create more traffic. If you notice whenever they build these connectors they always build more residential and multi-unit properties. You think this will reduce travel times but it will only invite more congestion via increased population, which equals more crime, pollution, and stress on scarce resources (i.e. water). Don’t be fooled
Of course they r going to add developments and expand. That’s what they do in the SCV or any of these valleys. Growth is going to happen but making people keep turning around and going in circles to get somewhere isn’t the answer either. They r going to build living spaces regardless. The question to ask is what about the 11 million they received in grant money in 2007 where did that go and how long for them to acquire the 50 million (plus cost overruns and change orders) to construct this. And who do they have to buy the property from….Hmmmm. Who’s getting paid. Roads will happen, keeping track of the paper trail is the adventure.

no help at all for west bound traffic trying to cross the valley and get to golden valley road further north. Who got $$$ for this decision
