SANTA CLARITA, Calif. — 2015 proved to be another exciting year for The Master’s College Athletic Department. Across the board, TMC’s student-athletes produced some of the most memorable moments in school history. The countdown of the top ten moments of 2015 continues with number three.
3) Two-Time NAIA All-American Aubrey Bekendam Wraps Up Four-Year Career as a Mustang with Program-Leading Assist Record, Leads Team to Third-Place Finish in GSAC
For the second time in her collegiate career, Aubrey Bekendam earned NAIA All-American honorable mention honors after finishing the 2015 campaign with 963 assists, 275 digs, 136 kills and 57 total blocks. Notably, the senior setter shattered TMC’s former set-assist record (2,642 – Christy Swagerty, 2004-07) by closing her career as a Mustang with 3,294 total assists. Bekendam set the program’s record for assists during the Mustangs’ match against Capilano University on Sept. 4.
In 2015, TMC’s volleyball team finished third in the Golden State Athletic Conference after posting an overall record of 20-10 (11-5). Notably, it was the first time since 2012 that the Mustangs had amassed 20 victories during the regular season.
Bekendam and the Mustangs capped off the season on Nov. 14 when they took down then No. 12 Westmont College in four sets in Santa Barbara, earning them a third-place finish in the GSAC.
