[District Atty] – A 42-year-old man known as “Spanky” was sentenced today to 47 years to life in state prison after shoplifting at a Palmdale hardware store and then fighting security personnel, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Deputy District Attorney Eunice Kim said Geoffrey Scott Bueno (dob 8/9/74) of Canyon Country was convicted on June 1 of two felony counts of second-degree robbery and one misdemeanor count of possession of methamphetamine.
Bueno was convicted in 1993 of voluntary manslaughter for being the driver in a gang-related shooting in case PA011791 and in 2009 of second-degree robbery for shoplifting and then fighting security personnel at a store in case LA063313.
On March 5, 2014, while on parole on the 2009 robbery case, Bueno went to a home improvement store and shoplifted various items before leaving the store, according to evidence presented at the trial. When confronted by two loss-prevention officers, the defendant kicked and wrestled the victims before they managed to detain him, the prosecutor said.
The defendant had methamphetamine in his possession, the prosecutor added. While in custody for this case, MA062308, Bueno was charged in case BA437287 with committing assault with great bodily injury on Jan. 15, 2015.
Case MA062308 was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Station, Palmdale Station.
