At its Aug. 30 special meeting, the Newhall School District Governing Board appointed Isaiah Talley as its newest board member, representing Trustee Area 4, which encompasses the east Newhall area and includes Newhall and McGrath elementary schools. Talley replaces Mike Shapiro, who stepped down from the board effective Aug. 1, having moved to another city.
Talley holds a bachelor’s of science degree from The Master’s University and an MBA from the Keller Graduate School of Management. He is the owner of a local business and he and his wife, Hannah, have one son.
“I wish to help the schools my son will attend be the best they can be,” Talley said when asked why he wanted to be a member of the board.
“In his interview before the board, Mr. Talley showed a sincere interest in serving the district,” board president Suzan Solomon said. “He cares a lot about children and understands that excellent schools bring children the promise of a better future. My fellow board members and I welcome Mr. Talley to our team and to the entire Newhall School District family.”
Talley was sworn in by Solomon at the board’s Sept. 6 meeting, joined by his wife and son. He begins his board member duties immediately.
