A small brushfire was quickly extinguished by county firefighters in Newhall on Sunday.
County firefighters extinguished a small brushfire today in Newhall that charred about one-eighth of an acre of grass, a dispatch supervisor said.

The brushfire near Dockweiler Drive and Ivy Lane was reported at 4:18 p.m., said Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Cheryl Sims.
The department initially dispatched several water-dropping helicopters to the scene but they were cancelled. Instead, the fire was handled by three
engine companies and two camp crews, Sims said. The knockdown was called at 4:48 p.m., Sims continued.

No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened, she said.

Well, guess that wasn’t the cause of all those helicopters overhead. they were much later in the evening.
