Statement from CSUN President Dianne F. Harrison on Tuesday’s DACA Decision.
To the Campus Community:
The start of the academic year should be filled with excitement for all students as they continue on their journey to a bright future. This year is different. Like so many in the CSUN campus community, I have been closely watching with profound concern the signals coming from Washington relating to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which provides a critical pathway for our Dreamers to pursue their education.
In the midst of this uncertainty, I want to clearly and unequivocally communicate to our students, faculty, staff and parents CSUN’s commitment to educating, supporting and protecting all students regardless of immigration status. We are here for all students and have taken steps to ensure our campus is a safe and welcoming environment. The California State University system has also created helpful online resources, including this student website that features information on admissions, financial aid, and campus and legal support, as well as a new website that features Frequently Asked DACA-related Questions, which was released on Wednesday.
In addition, it remains the position of the CSU and of CSUN that we do not undertake efforts with federal immigration enforcement authorities to investigate, detain or arrest individuals for violations of federal immigration law. Please remember, any and all inquiries from federal, state or local officials received on campus regarding immigration status should be immediately referred to CSUN’s Department of Police Services (DPS) at (818) 677-2111. DPS will act as a liaison with the on-site officials and will coordinate with the CSU Office of General Counsel to provide guidance, references and resources as available.
We will continue to carefully and diligently monitor for any changes to this information and will provide updates as appropriate. Additional resources and information can be found on this CSUN website.
I am hopeful DACA will remain in place and continue to provide our Dreamer students an opportunity to earn a CSUN degree. However, if the program is eliminated or in any way diminished, we will do everything we can to continue to support our students.
Sincerely,
Dianne F. Harrison, Ph.D.
President

Bottom feeder.
UCLA made a similar statement!! Thank you to our CSU and UC systems for standing by our Dreamers!! ❤️❤️
Gag
Steve Wilson you’re a police officer? I would expect more from you. You could have simply scrolled past my comment.
Well I’m a nurse, but I don’t support handouts. Why do you assume Steve and I endorse criminals just because we are in public service?
Jared Axen I don’t know where in my comment I assumed you and Steve endorse criminals? I stated that he could have kept his rude comment to himself and scrolled past my comment. He could have posted his own comment under the actual post.
Why should he? It doesn’t work that way on a public forum.
The arc of a moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice. Trump has once again shown his lack of judgement, moral decency and leadership. He cannot even deliver the message himself, but instead has the spineless AG Sessions hold a press conference. In his usual bluster of ineptitude and ignorance, Trumps then places the onus on Congress to resolve this issue; once again in effort to deflect any blame on himself. Cowardly and despicable.
That’s funny… My college experience never included safe spaces, quiet corners, cry baby rooms, or snowflake rallies… I guess I really missed out!!! LMFAO!!! ?????
So much for the future of this country! SMH…
May I have free tuition too? Please? I didn’t break any laws and I’m a tax paying citizen.
“Free tuition”? Who is getting free tuition? Gosh you DO need school ? read much?
So your giving financial aid to illegal but to regular USA born in this country students, parents earn too much so we have to pay for our kids education. Something is wrong with this picture. Illegals have more rights, unbelievable.
*you’re
No they don’t, they just get to pay the same as if they were legal. With or without them if you make too much money, your kids will still be denied financial aid. It’s a standard income that has be stablished for years.
All you people who support THIS…. are dangerous & ignorant dumbasses.
All Trump did was rescind an unconstitutional executive order and give congress a chance do do it legally. Why are educators such idiots?
They never left their idiotic left wing bubble
Yes that’s right are colleges are turning out great little liberals and the reason the politicians on the left want all the dreamers to stay is because they will turn into voters
You know undocumented can’t vote right? Them giving them the opportunity to get higher education doesn’t grant them a green card or makes them US citizen to be able to vote. Education is sooo important ?
So the CSUN President takes preference for foreigners over her fellow American citizens… Another State functionary with political blinders and no ethics.
