1906 - L.A. County accepts Mr. H.C. Register's bid to build (Old) Newhall Jail for $2,237 [story]
Old Newhall Jail

One person was killed when several vehicles collided near the intersection of Sierra Highway and Golden Valley Road in Canyon Country Saturday night.

“A bus and several vehicles (collided),” said Supervising Fire Dispatcher Art Marrujo. “There were two minor patients and one (person) dead on arrival.”

The collision occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m., officials said.

Southern California Edison officials confirmed that nearly 300 people were without power because the collision had damaged power lines at the intersection. Most residents should see power restored by 4 a.m.

The two patients were transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital with minor injuries.

The identity of the victim who was killed has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The intersection of Golden Valley Rd. and Sierra Highway was closed in all directions due to the crash, CHP officials said in a tweet.

I truly hope the driver of the pick up gets charged. It’s clear that they were going way to fast specially while towing a trailer.

  3. Omg this is so sad. I go thru there all the time. So sad ?

Mike Weaver >> The first sentence of the article says the bus hit several vehicles. With the accident under investigation, don’t be so quick to judge what actually happened. Unless you actually witnessed it?

  8. Juana Dabney says:

Rest in Peace for the person that died. Condolences to the family and friends.

@Mike Weaver, I do not have any experience as you do, however after living in SC for a short period, I agree with you. I have ONLY experienced bully drivers that are in pick up trucks. I do not know what it is about some people who drive trucks (I know it is not all pick up truck drivers). I drive all over the City daily, and I have had to pull over, or change lanes, because of some truck driver tailing me, cutting me off, driving too fast etc. It makes me so angry to read these stories, because of some jerk some family is sitting somewhere suffering this weekend.

That says power was out last night, but we lost power here in Placerita Canyon this morning and it was still out until late this afternoon. I did see lots of Edison vehicles at work at Golden Valley & Sierra Highway this afternoon, and the traffic signals were still out at that intersection, but our power was back on by the time I got home. ;-)

  12. wow that’s so sad

  13. D G says:

How many people need to die in this city before we start lowering speed limits?
