[Ile-de-France] – Shimtech Group subsidiary Lamsco West Inc., the world’s largest specialist aerospace shim manufacturing business, announced Monday that it has completed a $4 million facility relocation and capacity expansion in Santa Clarita, Calif.
The expansion programme has involved the complete relocation of Lamsco’s manufacturing operation from a 30,000-square-foot facility on Anza Drive in the Valencia Industrial Center to a modern, state-of-the-art, 75,000-square-foot building in Valencia.
Speaking of the capacity expansion, Shimtech CEO, Howard Kimberley, said: “Lamsco’s continuing success has necessitated this long-planned move and upscaling of capacity.
“We are proud to be able to announce the successful completion of this complex project, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank our committed and hard-working employees for this highly creditable achievement.
“Lamsco has for many years set the benchmark for lean practices in high volume aerospace manufacturing and logistics management for small precision details. In fact we have been pleased to host benchmarking visits to promote and share some of our process innovations and best practices amongst a number of leading institutions over the last five years.
“With this move the bar has been set higher, as Lamsco have designed and commissioned a “factory for the future”. Not only does this incorporate world-class concepts to optimize manufacturing flow and enhance productivity, but we have at the same time been able to incorporate some exciting technical firsts into the manufacturing process for aerospace shims and shimstock.
“At Shimtech, we believe in harnessing innovation and looking to the future. We will continue to find ways to help support our customers with investment and best available technology solutions to ensure they stay ahead through improved cost competitiveness.”
